[0:00] Good, please, while you are turning to Romans chapter 11, I'd like to share with you some introductory remarks before we get to the several texts that we'll be referring to in the hour that follows.
[0:16] I am really eager to get into the prophetic portion of this, and I must discipline myself not to too hurriedly run to that, because that is where a great deal of interest lies.
[0:31] But in order to be able to appreciate that to the fullest, we have to set the stage that will be preparatory for entering that prophetic picture.
[0:41] And that means we've got to spend a little bit of time concluding the transition from prophecy to mystery, and then looking at the historical reality of what has befallen the Jewish nation from the first century up to the present.
[1:01] And we will have to incorporate some content regarding the Holocaust, and then, this is the Holocaust of World War II, and then deal with some of the more recent expressions of anti-Semitism, which of course are really on the increase, not only here, but in Europe as well.
[1:22] So, the prophetic portion will follow that, but it cannot be fully appreciated without that material preceding it. So, for right now, we have arrived at the monumental occasion of the nation of Israel, God's singular chosen people, being temporarily set aside from the front and center position.
[1:49] They had occupied from their exodus of the nation of the nation of the kingdom of heaven.
[2:19] I want you to note and take very careful cognizance of this particular event, because this is really critical. This transition has moved from the focus being on Israel as a nation, and the offer that was extended to them by Jesus and John the Baptist, and then confirmed by Peter on the day of Pentecost, that contingent upon the repentance of the nation of Israel, Christ would establish that kingdom.
[2:47] We know that that was not a reality. We know that that was not a reality. The kingdom was not established. They did not embrace Jesus as their Messiah. Instead, that whole promise of the kingdom of heaven coming to earth, and all of the fulfillment that God had given, the assurances God had given to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob through all of the prophets, all of that is held in abeyance.
[3:09] It is not canceled. It is postponed. God is surely going to fulfill all that he promised to the patriarchs, but he is doing it in a way never imagined.
[3:23] And that never imagined way involves where we are now, moving from the transition of the focus being upon Israel into what is referred to as the times of the Gentiles, or the dispensation of the grace of God, or the revelation of the mystery.
[3:44] All of those terms are essentially synonymous. And if you will look at Romans chapter 11, and verse 25, we will find a supporting verse for this very, very important passage.
[4:00] We're talking about a mystery, remember? And the mystery, when Paul uses the term mystery, and uses it in reference to a number of things, he is talking about a sacred secret that had been hidden in the heart and mind of God from eternity past, that was God's intention all along, but never disclosed or revealed.
[4:31] Never even imagined by anybody until God bared his heart and revealed that sacred secret to the apostle Paul, whom he labeled as the apostle to the Gentiles.
[4:48] It then became Paul's responsibility to take that secret message and relate it to everybody else. In a way, in a way, in a way, it's kind of synonymous to what God revealed to John the baptizer for the nation of Israel.
[5:07] There was a man, John's gospel tells us in chapter 1, not written by John the baptist, but by John the son of Zebedee. We're told in chapter 1 of John's gospel, there was a man of God.
[5:22] There was a man sent from God whose name was John. And John had been specifically called by God to introduce the nation of Israel to the whole kingdom concept and to their Messiah.
[5:38] And John came preaching that message. So far as we know, John was the only one to whom God had revealed that message. It then became his responsibility to proclaim it to all of the nation of Israel, which he began doing.
[5:55] In the same fashion, it was Paul the apostle, the only one to whom God revealed this message. This is the message of the mystery.
[6:06] It is disclosing something that was never known before, never imagined before. And I'm sure it completely bowled over the apostle Paul. He, along with everyone else, had never imagined anything like this.
[6:21] And now God is divulging it to this one man. And he is charging him with the commission of advising all of the other apostles and everyone, all of the Gentiles, wherever he goes through the proclamation of this gospel, of this mystery.
[6:36] And essentially, it is that through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God has made provision for all or any of humanity to come to him through Christ.
[6:52] This is the mystery of Christ. How that through his death, life is given to all. And Peter never really preached that on the day of Pentecost.
[7:03] What Peter did do was he held Israel responsible for the crucifixion. He indicted them for their sin. He did not preach to them the gospel of the grace of God that later would be preached.
[7:16] And that's very important to note that because so many assume that when Peter preached on the day of Pentecost, he preached the same thing that we are preaching today. No, he did not.
[7:26] All you have to do is read the text. It's there in chapter 2 and 3. I want you to note not only what he said, but what he didn't say.
[7:38] It's too bad that Christians read back into it what they think Peter should have said, but didn't. Because we don't have the right to do that.
[7:49] We have to stick with the text. So, here in Romans 11.25, the apostle says, I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery.
[8:02] Which is another way of saying I'm going to let you in on this. Lest you be wise in your own estimation. And here it is. Now, this is a different mystery.
[8:13] This is a different aspect of the mystery. There are several mysteries, and we'll look at different ones. A partial hardening has happened to Israel.
[8:25] This is national Israel. Until, which implies a lack of permanence. It isn't a partial hardening forever.
[8:36] However, it is a partial hardening. That means not all of Israel, not every Jew, is going to be hardened and blinded. There will be Jews who will believe.
[8:50] And the one who's writing this is one of them. So, it is a partial hardening, and it is a temporary hardening. The time is going to come when the scales will be lifted from their eyes.
[9:03] It is happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. Think of it in terms of a huge cup.
[9:14] Alright? Just think of it as a big cup. And every Gentile that is saved is placed in the cup. All over the world. Wherever someone comes to faith in Jesus Christ, God takes them and puts them in the cup.
[9:27] That's the cup of Gentiles. And when the cup is full, and the last Gentile is going to be saved, who is saved, the cup is removed. We'll be looking at that a little later in our morning message.
[9:40] Until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And thus, all Israel will be saved. This is speaking of the nation of Israel, as opposed to where they are now.
[9:52] And then, the quote, the deliverer will come from Zion. He will remove ungodliness from Jacob, which of course is another name for Israel. And this is my covenant with them, when I will take away their sins.
[10:03] From the standpoint of the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But from the standpoint of God's choice, they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. That is, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
[10:14] For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. That is just the same as saying, the promises and the gifts that God made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob cannot and will not be rescinded.
[10:31] They are valid. They are in place. They will be fulfilled. The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
[10:42] For just as you once were disobedient to God, but now have shown mercy because of their disobedience, So these also now have been disobedient in order that because of the mercy shown to you, they also may now be shown mercy.
[10:57] For God has shut up all. What does the all mean? It means Jew and Gentile. All. In disobedience that he might show mercy to all.
[11:09] Now, would you come back please to Luke's gospel, chapter 19. One other passage that we have to consider in this particular setting. Luke's gospel, chapter 19.
[11:24] This is in connection with what is referred to as the triumphal entry. It is Jesus entering Jerusalem on what is commonly called Palm Sunday.
[11:34] He was the only one who knew what was really going to transpire when he got there. Everyone else thought they were going in for a coronation, a big celebration.
[11:47] But we all know that it was not to be. He was going there to be crucified. No one else knew that. So, in Luke's gospel, chapter 19, in verse 37, we read, As he, Jesus, was now approaching near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen.
[12:22] By the way, this scene looks pretty positive, doesn't it? Looks like Jesus is going for a big party, big celebration. Everybody is lining the streets and shouting praises to God.
[12:36] And here's what they're saying. Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord. Who were they talking about? They were talking about this man riding on a donkey who was right there in front of them.
[12:46] That's who they were talking about. And if you've got a New American Standard Bible, you'll see that this is in caps, which indicates, of course, that it's a quote from the Old Testament. It's a prophecy, hundreds of years old, now being fulfilled right before their very eyes.
[13:00] Peace in heaven and glory in the highest. Now, not everybody was celebrating because there were some party poopers there. They're called Pharisees. Some of the Pharisees in the multitude said to him, Teacher, rebuke your disciples.
[13:17] Tell them to stop saying those things. Of course, they were from the other side. And Jesus answered and said, I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out.
[13:34] Which is the Savior's way of saying he would not be denied this recognition. And if I commanded these to hold their peace, the very stones lying on the ground would cry out in their absence.
[13:50] And when he approached, he saw the city and wept over it. The word is, he sobbed. He didn't shed a tear.
[14:02] He broke up in convulsive crying. And he said, if you, another text renders it, Jerusalem, Jerusalem, if you, Jerusalem, if you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace, but now they've been hidden from your eyes.
[14:35] Jesus is saying, as he weeps over the city of Jerusalem, looking out over that cityscape, knowing that on a cross there on Golgotha, he would be in a matter of days.
[14:48] and he's addressing the city of Jerusalem as if it could hear him. And he's saying, oh, if you only knew. If you only, if you had any idea what you were doing and what you were going to throw away, the very thing that belongs to your peace.
[15:14] And he's called, of course, the Prince of Peace. you are ready to discard. And your ignorance, you don't have a clue.
[15:26] He sobbed over the ignorance of this city and of the population. You know something? We've got the same kind of ignorance today.
[15:44] Worldwide. world doesn't have a clue. And the world is so clueless, they don't even have a clue that they're clueless.
[15:58] That's tragic. If only you knew the things that belong to your peace. To individuals, we could say, you who for any reason are unwilling or reluctant to embrace Jesus Christ as your only hope and salvation, if you only knew what you are rejecting.
[16:28] If you had any idea what you're turning your back on, principle is the same. But now, they've been hidden from your eyes.
[16:43] What is it that hardens hearts and blinds eyes? It's a refusal to repent. It is a rejection of the truth. It is turning your back upon God's revelation.
[16:57] That exacerbates our blindness. And so it was in the case of Israel. For the days shall come upon you because of your unbelief.
[17:10] Verse 43. The days shall come upon you when your enemies will throw up a bank before you and surround you and hem you in on every side and will level you to the ground and your children within you and they will not leave in you one stone upon another because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.
[17:45] And what was the time of their visitation? This was it. This was it. And their response will be we will not have this man to reign over us.
[18:01] Crucify him. Crucify him. That will be their response. And they will pay for it dearly. As near as we can tell this is probably somewhere between 30 and 32 A.D.
[18:18] And within about one generation in the year 70 A.D. a time on the calendar that shall ever live in the hearts and minds of every Jew worldwide 70 A.D.
[18:33] when Titus the Roman general who later will be the emperor of Rome will bring his horde his legionnaires against the city of Jerusalem and they will destroy it.
[18:51] The Jews will have been in insurrection and rebellion and Rome will lower its heavy boot on the Jewish people and destroy the temple and break down the walls and go in to the temple area where the Israelites had different items of gold and the heat because limestone out of which everything was made there nothing was made out of wood it was made out of limestone but did you know that limestone will burn and be reduced to ash and they set the city on fire and all of those all of those places that had such lavish displays of gold and gold inlaid the gold all melted under intense heat and ran down in the cracks between all of the rocks and the crevices and after the city had cooled the Roman soldiers came in after tens of thousands of Jews had been slaughtered and others lined up for slavery they came in with picks and with crowbars and levered the stones that were remaining to get to the gold that had melted and run down in the cracks thus literally fulfilling what Jesus said not one stone would be left upon another and when men are driven by the prospect of gold they'll move whatever they have to to get to it and they did this is what's coming and this by the way is going to be the most dramatic and thorough dispersion of the
[20:31] Jews throughout the world that was ever known I mean the Jews had scattered before for different reasons and they were living all throughout the Mediterranean world but the dispersion of 70 AD is going to result in Jews literally being driven out of Jerusalem won't even be allowed to live there completely cast out of the country at least those who were still alive and the Romans even renamed the city Jerusalem capital Latina and they gave it a Roman name and it existed under that name for centuries and now we're seeing more and more Jews coming back into the land so this is referred to as the diaspora it is a word which means the diaspora D-I-A-S-P-O-R-A is a word compound word the first part of the word
[21:31] D-I-A DIA it's a word from which we get the word diameter and it means through and the spora is from which we get the English word spore as in sperm or I can't think of another term but it has to do with that which gives life as in spores when they are circulated so it means through spore and as a result this this is the principal reason why you find a Jewish representation of people all throughout the world everywhere I mean just they're everywhere and this is part of the dispersion and part of the prophecy for the end time is that God says he is going to re-gather his people whom he scattered and you know the scattering is part of the judgment
[22:32] God said if you persist in your disobedience and your idolatry I will bring pagan heathen nations against you and destroy you and I will scatter you throughout the world and that's exactly what God has done but because the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable guess what they're coming back and Jewish people from all over the world are making their way back to the nation of Israel they are preparing themselves even though they do not know it they are preparing themselves for the prophetic end time events that may very well come maybe not in my lifetime but very likely in yours so it is the Jews scattering and persecution worldwide throughout history that many
[23:39] Gentiles see as fully deserved and as nothing more than the perpetual disfavor of God toward the Jewish people now we've got a fascinating thing taking place here in regard to the treatment of Gentiles or treatment of Jews by the Gentiles worldwide and particularly is this centered in Europe more than any place else in the world although we've had our share of it here but nothing like they have so this regathering and the Jews coming home you know for decades for decades Jews living in the Soviet Union and there were hundreds of thousands of them were not allowed to leave the land they could not get exit visas they could not leave Russia but with the political turmoil that has taken place in Russia and the demise of the old Soviet Union and the empire there have been hundreds of thousands of Jews made their way out of Russia back to the land of Israel as well as
[24:50] Jews from other parts of the world as well and this is very very significant and you know who really likes this who really likes the Jews returning to the land of Israel and they have gone on record as favoring it that's the Muslim imams and mullahs throughout the world they are rubbing their hands with glee for all the Jews returning to Jerusalem them because they say that will make it much easier for us to completely annihilate them when they're all in one place like that and that is their intention and they make no bones about it so this regathering is occurring even as we speak most Christians and hear this very carefully because this is terribly important most Christians throughout history and including this present day see Israel's dispersion as proof positive their position as the chosen people has been forfeited permanently and that all of the persecution that is being heaped upon the Jews by Gentiles is all deserved they have it coming they are suffering deprivation and persecution and murder and rape and everything else and good enough for them they deserve it they have it coming that's the position that many have taken throughout the world and many of those clearly designate themselves as Christian particularly those of the
[26:47] Roman Catholic persuasion but not limited to them this attitude is called supersessionism or replacement theology the idea that the church has replaced Israel as the new chosen people of God this is the majority opinion and I can promise you this is the opinion of the United Nations in general why do so many Gentiles reach this conclusion and why do Arabs who are part of the Gentiles believe this first of all they crucified the son of God their Messiah now I can really appreciate Arabs and Muslims being upset over the guilt of the Jews crucifying Jesus can't you no not in this lifetime that's just not where their heart is at all so trust me when I say that would not be a concern of theirs
[27:58] Israel here's what I want you to understand and you're going to see this surfacing time and time again even though probably most of the social scientists today would definitely deny this I have no question as to its validity Israel Israel is the object of an age-old plan and program for annihilation orchestrated by none other than Satan himself the master mind he is using the hatred of Arabs and other Muslims plus numbers of professing Christians worldwide to do this the Arab world and all Muslims as well as all professing Christians who oppose Israel have any idea none of these have any idea that Satan is at all involved and of course many would even deny the existence of
[29:02] Satan and what I have just suggested as being the rationale behind this they would simply laugh at they would find that very humorous ha ha ha here's one of those really old fashioned hell and fire brimstone preachers that believes that there is a real devil and they would of course ridicule the idea not only this but not even the Jews who are on the receiving end of persecution would attribute their worldwide and historic rejection to Satan they just attribute it to ignorant and arrogant Gentiles who don't know any better but they would not see anything supernatural behind it at all because you must be reminded that even though the Jewish people have an amazing history in areas of spirituality there is a huge percentage of Jewish people today who are very atheistic in their approach to life and
[30:02] Israel is not a religious nation it is a secular nation and of course has a tremendous religious history but most of those living in Israel today would repudiate that and many of the Israelites are eager to tell you they refer to themselves by saying I am not a religious Jew which means I'm a Jew by birth and I'm a Jew by tradition but I am not a Jew in that I subscribe to Judaism or follow the rituals etc.
[30:33] so it is clearly undeniable that the worldwide and historic persecution of the Jews is logically inexplicable there there is a clear irrationality to the perpetual isolation and persecution of the Jew did you hear what I said the persecution is clearly irrational and behind that irrationality is satanic involvement and I'm not real sure how much man needs satanic involvement because we are quite capable of doing dastardly things on our own without any help from Satan but of course he is egging it on and what I am giving you as a solution and as a problem is something that neither the Muslim world nor the Jewish world would even acknowledge and do you know what it has come to the place today where a good percentage of the
[31:39] Christian world wouldn't either there are probably more out there in our Western culture under the rubric of Christianity who would deny the very reality and objective existence of Satan probably more than would affirm it and this of course comes back again to one's authority and if you take the scriptures as your authority you have to do business with the fact that Jesus confronted the adversary himself personally in the temptation and no he wasn't hallucinating there is a devil there is a devil and his demons no one specializes in reducing humans not only to acts of barbarism and inhumanity but with the irrationality that accompanies it like
[32:48] Satan himself the master deceiver Satan has had a field day with the Jew you don't know the half of it you think that Jewish persecution is pretty much summed up in the Holocaust you haven't heard anything yet but you're going to because the Holocaust was simply a culmination of intense persecution that had existed for hundreds of years and it worked its way out upon the Jewish people in ways that are absolutely unimaginable and inhuman beyond belief you'll need a strong stomach for some of that when it's coming Satan has had a field day with the Jew and this will become apparent in our upcoming studies as we continue the theme of the
[33:50] Jewish final solution to the world's problems and as I pointed out to you in the past so say I now again I call this the Jewish final solution to the world's problem most Gentiles have no idea what that is most Christians have no ideas what that is and most Jews most Jews have no idea what I'd be talking about but you will so where are we where are we now in all of this today we are in the parenthesis of human history we the church which is the spiritual body of Christ are sandwiched between God's first dealing with the nation of Israel and his final dealing with the nation of Israel and we occupy that space in between this is the time of Israel scattering and the Christian church progressing and developing here on the one hand we have Israel in the kingdom over here on the other extreme we have
[34:56] Israel in the kingdom and in between we have the church which is the body of Christ so it's Israel church Israel prophetically we don't even belong here we aren't even talked about we are not prophesied we are not predicted we the parenthesis here in the middle are completely ignored in the Old Testament doesn't exist that's why it's called the mystery it was never prophesied never revealed no one had a clue and when Paul the apostle came on the scene and God revealed this to Paul I'm sure his response was golly wow really are you serious Jew Gentile together one people how can that be but it is and he has made twain one new man
[36:06] Jew Gentile so that there's neither bond or free male or female Jew or Gentile you are all children of God by faith in Jesus Christ who would have thunk it how can that be that's why it's called a mystery it was never revealed before it was never predicted never prophesied never imagined it was let me put it this way God sprung it he sprung it on Paul and then Paul had the responsibility of selling it to all of his companions how do you think that went over with many of them who went over like a lead balloon didn't go over at all in fact some actually took it upon themselves to try and do away with Paul because of what they perceived as the heresy that he was preaching so if you will come to Ephesians 3 let's put this thing in perspective
[37:09] Ephesians 3 we're talking about mysteries remember for this reason I Paul the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles if indeed you have heard of the stewardship the dispensation the doling out of God's grace which was given to me for you you Gentiles that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery as I wrote before in brief which in and by referring to this when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ well where did he get that insight God gave it to him he wasn't smart enough to figure it out God revealed it to him otherwise he wouldn't have known it which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets in the spirit to be specific here's what I'm talking about this is what it's all about that the
[38:12] Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel wow this was news now let me tell you something this should not be news today there's no excuse for this being news today but it is I wonder to how many of you it is news right now this is something sobering to think about because if what he is saying is correct and God help us if it isn't because we might as well throw this whole book out and forget it if this is correct this is the essence of what our gospel and our ministry is all about this is it this one body was never imagined never thought of never revealed at all and it is called a mystery and how well do you think the
[39:47] Jewish population in general accommodated this mystery not on your life most of them rejected it out of hand and they considered the apostle Paul as a corruption of Judaism it would be unthinkable after the law of Moses and all that that commands it would be unthinkable that God is going to replace that and bring in non Jews and put them on the same level and plain as the church why that is the most absurd ridiculous thing I've ever heard of get that man out of here you know what they said in one case away with that fellow it is not fit that he should live kill him and on one occasion there was a band of Jews who so hated Paul and his message and saw him as a turn coat because before he was one of them he was the guy that held
[40:48] Stephen's coat when they stoned him remember and now he's on the other side what do you call that you call him a traitor dirty treason kill him and a bunch of them got together and they swore an oath and the oath was I swear full of food or drink a drop of water until I kill that SOB their plot was foiled we don't know if they ever starved themselves into oblivion but that was the vow they made that's how intense they were about this man that's how they did not accommodate the message wow so this one body thing is just one aspect of the mystery and if you're in 1 Corinthians 15 and there's no reason why you should be there because
[41:49] I didn't ask you did I but I want to close with it 1 Corinthians 15 and verse 50 we've got another mystery in this thing there's a lot of mysteries and each one is significant and each one has the same thing in common in that none of them were ever and now this man this singular individual Paul the apostle is springing all of this stuff and it's all new stuff and you know when you stop and think about it I don't have any difficulty understanding at all why so many professing Christians seem to have a real problem with the apostle Paul and his authority stop and think about it because the things he talks about and reveals in his letters sound so un Jewish they are not of the same flavor as the
[42:50] Old Testament and as Matthew Mark Luke and John they are not they are different they really depart it doesn't seem to maintain the same flavor and that's because it's a different flavor altogether it was previously not known and just sprung on them wow first Corinthians chapter 15 and I want you to look at verse 50 now I say this brethren that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable behold well looky here looky here
[43:51] I tell you a mystery what are you saying Paul I'm saying I am going to reveal to you something that before was never known or even imagined and you're getting the real scoop on this here it is the mystery is we shall not all sleep but we shall all be changed what are you talking about well we know the sleep is the sleep of death he's not talking about the eight hours a night variety he's talking about dying and he's saying we are not all going to die physically some of us are going to be alive when something really extraordinary happens now Paul was not one of them because he's been dead for a couple thousand years and so have all must put on the imperishable and this mortal must put on immortality whoa where do you find that prophesied anywhere in the
[45:32] Old Testament where do you find this in Matthew Mark Luke and John it isn't there and the reason it isn't there is because it isn't supposed to be there that's what makes it a mystery it was not disclosed it was deliberately withheld it doesn't mean that these people lived back then weren't smart enough to understand and figure this it was never revealed to them they had no idea what this was about until God reveals it and he's revealing it here through Paul this perishable will have put on the imperishable this mortal will have put on immortality then will come about the saying this is amazing nobody knew about this before this is all new stuff yeah that's why it's called a mystery it was never previously revealed that which was previously revealed is referred to as prophecy it's predicted you know it's coming and we've got a lot of that we've got a lot that has already been fulfilled and we've got a lot that hasn't yet been fulfilled but that's all prophecy and you know what
[46:44] Israel the nation is right smack dab in the middle of it the church is not we occupy an entirely different area and that's the body of Christ that's that parenthesis and when the time comes and by the way the reference that we just read from 1 Corinthians is reinforced by 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 where the apostle Paul talks about the very same thing in connection with the rapture the snatching away of the body of Christ when the fullness of the Gentiles is come in and there are other mysteries we'll just briefly consider them in an upcoming session another the indwelling ministry of the spirit of God that wasn't known before that was never realized before the spirit of God dwelling in you as a believer is part and parcel of the mystery that's the church age exclusively belongs to the church age spirit baptism whereby we are baptized by one spirit into one body that was non-existent that was never prophesied that's not old testament stuff that's not in the gospels this is completely new this is altogether different it's a whole new ball game so you can see how some people could look at what
[48:09] Paul says and well I'm not sure you know this this stuff that Paul is writing and talking about this doesn't seem to square with the old testament no it doesn't of course it doesn't it isn't supposed to it's supposed to be radically different and it is so under which program are we to live and function isn't it obvious by now this is our program this is the times of the Gentiles this is the time of the body of Christ this is the time distinguished from the time of Israel and the kingdom and all that accompanied it I trust this will be made even clearer as we go along I've got maybe 60 seconds left you've got maybe 60 seconds left are there any questions or comments quickly we'll do our best to deal with them Marie would you remind me that next week
[49:13] I'm to give them an extra portion of Q&A and you have my permission to give me this anybody in the back Roger okay I have been told by other grace pastors at conferences and stuff that when the mystery is introduced to famous teachers preachers that they acknowledge it but they do not want to preach it or teach it in their congregations for fear of losing them because they're so steeped in the Jewish things and Jesus the gospels does that make sense well I'm sure that in some cases that's true yeah but and my heart goes out to those who might be torn as regards that but I'll tell you what you can you can absolutely never go wrong by proclaiming and teaching what you honestly really believe to be true and let the chips fall where they may and there will be people who will reject that that's a given that has always been that way think of how many people rejected
[50:27] Noah's message all of them and and by the way when God called Jeremiah to preach to the nation of Israel he told Jeremiah what to say and he told them what the consequences would be if they didn't obey and he and he told Jeremiah you know this and nobody's well thanks a lot why bother why go to the trouble and one reason was so that the guilt of the nation would be increased and their culpability would be magnified over their rejection because unto whom much is given of him shall much be required the more information you have the more responsible you are for what you do with that information that applies across the whole of life anyone else someone quickly listen folks this is fascinating stuff and there are places where this stuff can be this content can be preached and people will think that it is that you're getting that someplace else besides the
[51:42] Bible but it's right there in the book and one thing the one thing the one thing that will assure attention is paid to passages and truths like this is the exposition of the word of God verse by verse where the preacher isn't allowed to skip anything and where he isn't allowed to just preach on his favorite pet hobbies that he knows backwards and forwards when you preach on stuff like this you open yourself to a lot of questions and some doubts and denials and all the rest and you know what that's part of the learning process don't ever be afraid of the truth be willing to follow it wherever it leads you and you know what it may leave you hanging out to dry but that's okay because you don't have to be successful you just have to be faithful
[52:48] God will take care of the results would you stand with me please father these are glorious truths that we're considering and there isn't anything in this book that isn't glorious but there are things that are more pertinent and more applicable to us for who we are and where we are in this day and age and that's what we want to zero in on because we are living under that dispensation and we're responsible for what it sets forth we are grateful for those who have gone before we think of men like J.C.
[53:33] O'Hare and Mr. Stamm and others who have proclaimed these truths in the past and often suffered rejection and ridicule just like the apostle Paul did when he proclaimed these truths but that does not lessen our responsibility to do it so thank you for the privilege for the challenge thank you most of all for the blessed truth itself how that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself and has committed unto us a ministry of reconciliation we confess our unworthiness and our inability and we look to you and you alone to make up that which we lack in Christ's wonderful name Amen
