[0:00] Okay, we thank you this morning, Father, for your love, Father, for your grace, and just for guiding us this morning through your word. We just pray we'll be able to use it in our life this week, and we know that your word is for us as we study it and as we take it in.
[0:17] So, Father, just guide us today. We thank you for those that are in attendance this morning, me with those who could not make it. And we thank you Mike and Marvis today as they fell this week, and we just pray that they're recovering from that.
[0:30] And we also thank you Sarah and her eye just to be with her during this time. She has something in her eye and pray it goes out. So, Father, we just thank you and we praise you this morning. We ask it in our Lord and Savior's name, Jesus the Christ. Amen.
[0:46] All right, last week we finished up with chapter 19 of 1 Samuel. And what we saw there was that David ran to Ramah to see Samuel.
[1:00] And Samuel was there, and then Saul found out that David was there. He sent his cohorts there, but his cohorts went to kill David.
[1:11] But since they were prophesying with Samuel, you know, they ended up prophesying also with Samuel. And it got so bad, Saul said, ah, you guys, I'm going to go down there and do it myself.
[1:23] But he gets down there, the same thing happens to him, and he said, I can't do it. And he was also prophesying. So, David again, he escapes. And we're going to turn to chapter 20 this week.
[1:36] This is an important chapter. There's a lot going on here. And we see David running from Ramah. And he's going to meet Jonathan.
[1:47] And this is going to be a time that they meet together. David is very worried about what's happening in his life with Saul and him trying to kill him all the time.
[1:58] So, we're going to be reading chapter, or in chapter 20, and we start here in verses 1 through 4. David asked Jonathan about Saul's intentions toward him. And Jonathan promised to help David.
[2:11] So, we see that this is a time David and Jonathan are close friends. And they just had this bond in the Lord Jesus Christ, or in God. And they became very close.
[2:25] So, David fled from Ramah, and he went and said to Jonathan, He wanted to know if Saul's heart had changed, if there was still a chance to reconcile with Saul. So, he's asking Jonathan, what have I done?
[2:37] And here David checks his relationship with Jonathan. He wanted to know what Saul thought about, but it was more important for David to know what Jonathan thought.
[2:48] They had this relationship. And, matter of fact, when they was at Ramah, I don't think that Jonathan was there, it doesn't mention it. But, it seems like that he was not there.
[3:00] And he also didn't know that Saul sent his people there to kill David. So, this is what David and Jonathan are talking about. So, Jonathan said to him, By no means, this ensured David that Jonathan was still his loyal friend, and that Jonathan hadn't brought Saul's lies about David.
[3:19] So, why should my father hide these things from me, he says. That's not so. Again, he did not know that they were down there. So, now he's finding out about it.
[3:30] And, apparently, David wondered why Jonathan didn't tell him about the attempt or the arrest at their Ramah. And, Jonathan expressed astonishment that his father had done that. But, there's still a step between me and death.
[3:43] This reveals David's discouragement. He knew that Saul attempted to kill him many times, and it seemed that Saul would not quill until David was gone. So, David felt that this death was just inescapable.
[3:56] Everything he does, every place he go, Saul is sending these armies out after him. So, whatever you yourself desire, I will do for you.
[4:08] Now, we're talking. Jonathan is talking to David, and he's reassuring David, bringing encouragement and offering help. So, verses 5 through 11, David proposes to test Saul's attitude.
[4:21] Now, this is going to be a time where Jonathan and David work up this scheme where they're going to see if Saul is still bent on David.
[4:31] David, and before, Jonathan talked with his father about this, and he said, okay, I'm not going to kill him. But, he continues to do it.
[4:42] So, here we're going to see David's proposes to test Saul's attitude. And David said to Jonathan, Indeed, tomorrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king to eat.
[4:53] But let me go that I might hide in the field until the third day at evening. Now, this special sacrifice was commanded back in Numbers, I believe.
[5:04] So, this is a feast that was always going on. And as king, all of his leaders, he wanted to be at these meals. And now, Jonathan and David are proposing his scheme.
[5:17] If your father misses me, it says, David asked Jonathan to observe Saul's reaction to David's absence in an important feast. So, he wanted to see what was going on.
[5:28] If there is any inequity in me, again, David seems somewhat shaken by the fact that Jonathan did not tell him about the attempt of his life the last time. So, again, he's saying to him, Am I wrong in here?
[5:43] Are you still behind me? Essentially, David is saying, Are you really working for your father? And if you are, just go ahead and kill me right now and get it over with. But Jonathan says, Far be it from you.
[5:56] With his encouragement, Jonathan told David, No longer doubt his loyalty. Jonathan senses that David is in a vulnerable place, and he wants to give him encouragement in the midst of it.
[6:07] So, we see here, they're talking back and forth about what's going on. And now, they come up with this scheme. And David says, I'm going to go hide in the field, and I'm going to be out there for three days.
[6:19] This feast is going to be going on. You go to the feast. See what Saul says. And he told David, he said, Now, we're going to see what happens, and I'm going to go after the third day.
[6:35] I will come out into the field, and I will have my bow in our air, and I will shoot the bow. And wherever the arrow falls, it's going to tell you whether David is still, or whether Saul is still on your case, and he's going to kill you, or you're safe.
[6:52] And you can come and join us again. And we're going to see what happens there. So, this is what happens. The next day, Jonathan goes in. They have their meal, and Saul says, Where's David?
[7:06] And he's kind of getting angry. David should be here. And Jonathan comes up with this story. Oh, he was sent somewhere else, and he just won't be here. So, the third time, the second or third time he comes, Jonathan finally finds out what Saul is all about.
[7:24] And it comes to the place where Saul was so angry, he picked up his spear, and he threw it at Jonathan. So, now we see a man that's so bent on killing David that he's willing to throw a spear at his own son.
[7:40] So, this is the type of thing that's going on here in this chapter. And as it goes on, then Jonathan goes back out the next day as he sees what his father is really about.
[7:53] And he goes out, and he shoots his arrow. And what they talked about before, if the arrow falls short of where you're standing, they had this all planned out, then you're going to be safe.
[8:06] But if the arrow goes beyond you, then you're not going to be safe. And that's exactly what happened. He shot his arrow, and it went beyond him, and Jonathan spoke up and said, the arrow is beyond you.
[8:19] So, at that point, David knew that he was in trouble. And he came out from his hiding spot, and him and Jonathan talked.
[8:30] And this will be one of the last times that they're going to be able to have a conversation together. So, let's see. Let's turn to... Yeah, verses 34, 35 through 40 kind of explains what's going on here where Jonathan reports to David through the single of the errors.
[8:49] So, the tearful farewell we see there in verses 41 and 42. As soon as he had gone, David arose from a place toward the south, fell on his face to the ground, and bowed down three times, and they kissed one another.
[9:07] They wept together. David and Jonathan loved each other and had a strong bond relationship. And this proves out with this final talking here. And...
[9:17] But David, more so, was sad because if Jonathan had reason to weep, David had more. The pain of being apart was bad enough.
[9:29] But it was worse for David because he was caught off from everything and destined to live a life of a fugitive for many years. And we're going to see this in the upcoming chapters that David is just going to be on the run.
[9:42] He's not going to have any peace until the end of the chapter. So, go in peace, Jonathan said, since we both swore in the name of the Lord.
[9:53] Jonathan knew that he might never see David again. In fact, David and Jonathan will only meet once more shortly before Jonathan's death. Yet as David now left for a life of hiding and danger, Jonathan could send David away in peace because they both agreed to honor each other, not only in life, but also honor each other's families beyond their own lifetimes.
[10:15] We're going to see that coming up in 2 Samuel. We're going to see where Jonathan, some of his relatives and Saul's relatives and David is going to jump in and help.
[10:27] I forget his name at this point, but he was crippled. And we're going to see that coming up in 2 Samuel. So, he arose and departed.
[10:39] David will not return to normal life until Saul is dead and David is king. So, David was in God's will. How can anyone set out on such a bleak road and be in the will of God because God often has his people spend at least some time in the dark road?
[10:56] You know, it seems like, hey, David, what's going on here? Are you actually in God's will here? Because all this stuff is happening, now you're going to be on the run.
[11:08] Are you in God's will? And, hey, sometimes we have that feeling, don't we? Sometimes there's a lot of problems come up in our life and we're just wondering, what is God doing in our life?
[11:20] But God is there and he's using these circumstances and that's exactly what's happening in David's circumstance that he's just having a rough road. That's the way it is.
[11:31] I mean, it's one thing to have difficult lives and problems, but it's another one. Somebody's there always trying to kill you, which is what was happening with David. So now, we go into chapters 21 and I'm going to do something different here because I'm not going to get into detail on 21 through 31 because basically it's talking about David fleeing and all the different battles and all the different things that goes on there and I pretty much just want to summarize these chapters to get a feeling for David the man and that's what's really my whole intent of this study was to show David the man and not to get into all the details about the fighting and all the people and the different things going on in the armies.
[12:20] So, I'm not going to do that so I'm just kind of summarizing. In chapter 21, David went to see Ahimelech and he was a priest at Noab and there he kind of loses some of his status because he lies to Ahimelech.
[12:38] Ahimelech asked him why he came by himself and David said he was sent on a mission by the king. Now, he was out running so he had no talking with the king here so he's telling this priest, hey, I'm here because of a mission that the king sent me on.
[12:54] So, here we can see that David, although he is in favor with God, he was still just a man, isn't he? And he's capable of lying and that's exactly what he was doing here when he was talking to the priest in Noab.
[13:08] He also talked Noab into giving bread that was supposed to be for the sacrifices and he also talked him into giving him the sword and the sword was at this place with the priest because this sword was the one that David took when he killed yeah, when he killed right, come on, help me out, to Goliath.
[13:39] Hey, when you're standing up here things just kind of disappear, don't they? So, we see that and one other thing that was going on in this chapter is a servant, Doeg the Edomite and we're going to hear about him later in some of these verses and of Saul, he was a servant of Saul and there with David that day and God had detained him there.
[14:05] The servant was the chief shepherd of Saul and now we see David also fled to Gath to see the king there, Achish. His servants asked David if he was one who had slain the ten thousands.
[14:18] Now David is going to these places to kind of get refuge but as he went to this place in Gath all the people said, wait a minute, David, you're the one that slayed Goliath.
[14:29] You're the one that you went out to destroy the Philippines and you came back and what the king saw and all the people cheered and sang songs for you so they were against David at that point and David knew that he was going to be in trouble.
[14:45] So what did David do? David he acted like he was insane and the people let him go.
[14:58] So here again we see David is not the same David we've been seeing in the previous chapters. So he's on the run and things are a little bit different for him. In chapter 22 David escapes from there and he goes to Moab Saul learned about David and his men at Nob Doag the Edomite told Saul that Amalek had given David provisions and also the sword of David.
[15:28] Saul sent for Amalek and also the men of his family and Saul at that point wanted his demand and go to kill this priest. And again these men had something in their hearts about God because they weren't willing to go and kill this priest because of him being a priest.
[15:51] But this other fellow this the other guy that we're talking about he had no problems with that which was Doag so Saul went to Doag and he said go go to this town of Nob take the priest and kill him and kill everybody that's associated with him.
[16:09] and he killed over 85 people with a priest and he killed their animals he killed everything that was there. So this is Saul and his attitude and it's not changing.
[16:21] He's doing everything he can because he thought that they helped David and this is what they did. Chapter 23 the Philippines attack Kiwa and are driven away by David.
[16:34] Saul chases David into the mountains but fails to capture him. So it's a continuing story. Chapter 24 Saul was informed that David was in Gidea Desert.
[16:47] Saul then took 3,000 men to go look for him and David had always been. Along the way Saul went into a cave where David and his men were hiding and David was able to sneak and detect where Saul was and at that point he was going to the bathroom in the cave and David was close enough that he could get up and grab hold of his clothing and he tore a piece of it off.
[17:16] I don't know how that could happen but evidently it did happen because it's what it says here in the word. And after that point when Saul came out and he was encamped here and David was over here with his man David shouted out and at that point he told Saul he said why are you still hunting me?
[17:34] Why are you still trying to kill me? Saul I had the chance to take your life. I was this close to you and I tore your clothing and this is where it's at and he showed Saul the clothing and at that point Saul again in his attitude changed and said David you are the man you are the one that God wants to be king.
[18:01] at that point Saul has finally come to the conclusion that David is going to be king and he sees this attitude about David and it continues on.
[18:14] So that's chapter 24 and Saul asked David to swear to him that he would not wipe out his descendants or remove his name from his father's family.
[18:28] David gave his promise to Saul after all Saul went back home and David along with his men went to a strong home. And this is going to come up later on too where David is reluctant to go against Saul and his family and we're going to see that as we get into 2 Samuel.
[18:48] Chapter 25 the first thing we see here is that Samuel died and in the beginning everyone in Israel mourned for him. He was buried in Ramah.
[18:59] David then moved to the Zedrat of Paran a celibite named Napal had property there. He was married to Abigail who was beautiful and intelligent.
[19:11] Napal was a very wealthy man who had many sheep and he was also surely an unpleasant man. And it appears here that David as his men came in went to this man and he was protecting his flocks.
[19:24] man. And we see then that David asked Nabal for provisions and he refuses those provisions and at that point David kind of loses his temper and he says I'm going to go back and I'm going to kill everybody associated with his family.
[19:43] Again, here's David the man and he's no different than anybody else. Sometimes when we get crossed we do things that we shouldn't be doing and this is one of those things.
[19:55] But luckily this man's wife goes to David and talks him out of killing these families. And at that point she goes and tells her husband and of course he's upset but I guess God had this in plan because her husband died right off the bat and what did David end up doing?
[20:19] He married her. He brought her and married this lady. So again we see David in a new light and David had I don't exactly how many wives David had.
[20:32] He had quite a few wives and he had a lot of children from a lot of different women and we see that's one of the flaws of David also. Chapter 26 This is a time that Saul comes after David.
[20:49] He knows he's on the other side of the mountain. Saul was camped. Saul still chases after David. David sneaks into Saul's camp. At this point he took one of these men with him.
[21:03] At night he went down to the camp and he actually took the spear and some of the clothing of Saul. Saul was laying there sound asleep but the things right there beside him.
[21:15] Again I don't know how that happened. Nobody woke up but he took this stuff and ran away. Then he called to the camp to wake the people up.
[21:27] Again he showed them the things he had taken from Saul. Again he's saying, Saul, look I could have killed you again. And he didn't.
[21:37] So we see that David has this attitude in him that he's not going to take this kingship away from Saul.
[21:48] God anointed Saul as king and as long as he was alive and as long as Jonathan was alive, he was not about to take the king's life.
[22:02] And so this attitude was in David. And you can't get by that. That he had this attitude that no matter what Saul did, he had the attitude that he would go to him and tell him the things that was going on and say, look I could have killed you.
[22:21] I didn't kill you. But Saul was a very stubborn man and it just didn't work. But after this, Saul finally figured out that David is going to be the king and I'm not going to chase him all over the place.
[22:36] And I think at this point this is the point that Saul finally said, okay David, I'm not going to chase you. And David finally started going other places.
[22:48] So in chapter 27, David flees and settles in the land of Gath with the king Achish. When King Saul heard about it, he fled to the land of Gath and he stopped hunting him.
[23:01] At this point, he stopped hunting him at this point because he's now in the land of the Philippines. David pleads with King Achish and asks for a place to live and he gives him a place called Ziglag.
[23:14] And David took all these men there and he gave him this place to live. And David was able to go into this place, set up these men and they were there for I believe for over a year and a half.
[23:24] in the Philippine or the Philippine sorry, the Philistines area. And really what he was kind of doing was pretending, hey guys, I'm in your area and I will do what you want me to do.
[23:41] And he actually went out and raided places and did these things for the Philistines. All the while he was trying to hide the fact that he was still from Judah and he was going to be with Judah but he was there because he was afraid and that's why he was doing these things.
[24:01] Was that right? Probably not. He switched over to the enemy at that point and we see that this is not completely successful because the Philippines decided they were going to attack Israel again and some of the leaders of the military said, to the king at that point he said, hey wait, this is David.
[24:26] Can we trust him? He may be setting us up and we have this big battle. So they went to David and said, David, we know where you're from and we're not going to trust you and you're not going to go into this major battle that we're going to have with the nation of Israel.
[24:46] So they sent David back to Zieglech. And when he gets back to Zieglech, another enemy came in and had destroyed all of Zieglech and all his people and taken a lot of them prisoners.
[24:59] And at that point, David, being the warrior, went and took revenge on that. And now we get to verses 31.
[25:10] And this is an important chapter because in verse 31, the army of the Philistines fought against the Israelites and prevailed.
[25:21] They were in pursuit of King Saul as well as all his sons. The fighting became fierce and Saul was hit by archers. He was critically wounded. Saul towed his armor barrier to draw his weapon and run him through so the uncircumcised may not run him through and see him.
[25:40] But the armor bearer refused to do so, whereupon Saul grabbed the sword and took his life. When the king's armor bearer saw what had happened, he also took his own life. So therefore, King Saul, his sons, and his army died that day because Jonathan was also killed at that point.
[25:58] The following days, the Philistines came to the battlefield, found Saul's body and his sons. They beheaded him and they disappeared. The inhabitants of Joss Gilead eventually buried.
[26:14] They remain there after this battle. And that ends 1 Samuel. And it's been an interesting book. It talks about Saul, his kingship, and David and Goliath, and all the running ends he had with Saul.
[26:30] And one of the characteristics of David, he becomes very, comes out very much and that's the fact that David's character, what was one of David's characters that you saw during this time?
[26:47] How about forgiveness? It seems like all the times that Saul tried to kill David, he never got that attitude in him and he must have had this attitude of forgiveness because he kept going back to Saul and he would go to him again and again and again.
[27:04] Even through this 20 years that Saul was trying to take him down, Saul never went against him as far as trying to kill Saul. So his thing of attitude, David knew forgiveness.
[27:18] If you hold a grudge against anyone, even for a slightest thing, then you don't understand anything about forgiveness. Jesus died for you, not because of your goodness, your sins, you were wiped out by the cross because this is what it took to redeem us.
[27:34] It took Jesus dying for our sins, forgiven our sins and that's what this forgiveness is all about and so it's based on the sacrifice of what Jesus Christ did.
[27:47] Now Jesus Christ, this was not done during David's time but David had that attitude in him and he got that attitude from having that relationship with God. God. And so this is our testimony to the world today.
[28:01] Only God gives people the ability to do that and that is to forgive other peoples when they do something to you. And that should be a testimony to the world because there's a lot of people and they see things happen to you and they're going to be watching you to see what you do about it.
[28:21] forgiveness and this attitude of forgiveness is one that we need to keep and to take into our lives. Ephesians 4 32 says, Be kind to one another forgiving each other just as God in Christ also forgave you.
[28:35] And I think that's our marching orders as Christians today is when you're wronged, forgive. And that's exactly what David did his whole life in the 20 years that Saul was after him and his to take his kingship away from him.
[28:54] So now we're going to be turning to 2 Samuel. Yep, I still have time. And chapter one, 2 Samuel, who wrote 2 Samuel?
[29:08] Anybody know? It couldn't have been Samuel. Samuel's dead now. And so scholars say 1 Samuel was written by Samuel and somebody else.
[29:23] I don't know. Samuel could have been writing part of 1 Samuel because he was there. But the last part of Samuel, he was not writing it because he was dead. So I think some of the other scholars say in 1 Chronicles 29 29 that talks about Nathan writing about David.
[29:42] So it's a possibility that Nathan, the prophet, wrote the second book of Samuel. Don't know that for sure but that's a possibility. But as we open up the chapter, verse 1 through 4, David hears the news about Saul and Zyglag.
[30:00] Now Saul's in Zyglag. This is not where Saul was killed. So now it came to pass after the death of Saul, King Saul and these three sons were killed in a battle against the Philistines, dying in the slopes of Mount Gileab.
[30:16] It was a sad ending of a tragic life, including the story of a man who came to the throne humble but left it hardened, bitter against both God and men.
[30:27] And that's the story we saw all the way through the last part of 1 Samuel. So when David returned from the slaughter of the Amaleks, that's the people that attacked him in Zyglag, that's when he heard the news about Saul.
[30:42] towards the end of 1 Samuel, despairing David left the people of God and allied himself with the Philistines. God prevented a complete alliance and brought David back through heartbreaking circumstances.
[30:57] And that's the things that happened there in Zyglag with all the people and his families there. Though David still lived among the Philistines, he was a changed man since his heartbreaking circumstances.
[31:10] He was getting himself back right with the Lord. When he went over there, he was doing things for the Philistines. He was going against God because he was going with the enemy.
[31:23] Even though he thought he was protecting himself, he was just acting like any other guy would, trying to protect himself. This is what happened in verses 5-10.
[31:38] So David said to the young man who told him, how do you know that Saul and Jonathan his son are dead? The young man who told him said, as I happened by chance to be on Mount Gileb, there was Saul leaning on his spear and indeed the chariots and horsemen followed after him.
[31:56] Now when he looked behind him, he saw me and called to me and I answered, here I am. And he said to me, who are you? So I answered him, I am an Amalek. He said to me again, please stand over me and kill me for anguish has come upon me and on my life still.
[32:13] So he stood over him and killed him because I was sure that he could not live after he had fallen. This is a man that came to David who was still in Ziklag to tell him about this, that David and his sons being killed.
[32:29] And he comes up with this fabrication that he was the one that saw being killed and it was completely against what was already said, the fact that he took his own life and also that his armor bearer saw it before he took his life.
[32:47] So this must have been a fabrication and he probably come just to know, hey, I bring these things from Saul to you so that you can reward me for it. And this is the thing that was going on there when David found out about Saul, what did he do?
[33:06] He cried because now King Saul is dead and he still had that attitude. Hey, Saul was king. Saul brought me.
[33:18] I know he tried to kill me, but it's still sad that Saul and Jonathan and a lot of that sadness was because of Jonathan because he knew Jonathan had the same attitude that he did.
[33:31] So David took hold his clothes and he tore them which was the standard thing to do when somebody had sorrow. And out of pure jealousy and hatred and spite and godliness, Saul took away David's family and career and security.
[33:46] all these things happened to David yet he still cried and he mourned and wept and fasted when he heard about Saul's death.
[34:03] So what happened next is David didn't believe this story and he took the young man's life and cut his head off. death. And so we see here that Saul is finally dead.
[34:18] David is in Ziklag. He finds about his death and he mourns his death. He kills this man that comes and gives this fabricated story. And next week we'll get into the last part of this chapter and we're going to see where David talks to God again and God is going to lead him back to Judah.
[34:37] and we're going to see where people are going to come for David again and honestly anoint him as king. At this point he's not going to be king of Israel.
[34:50] He's just going to be king of Judah. And we'll find out what's happening there with another king and we'll do that next week. Any questions about anything we covered here today?
[35:07] I was either that clear or not clear at all. Yep. I'll just say one thing as you were telling some of these stories about David. There's a book series that we've read to our kids called The Wilder King Trilogy and it is a retelling of the story of David.
[35:30] Different setting, different characters, but it tells the same general story. It's really fun, but at the same time really gives you kind of pulls out some of the interesting parts of the story.
[35:45] So I would highly recommend that. Read to grandkids or as a gift to especially young people suffer. Yeah, that would probably be better because when you get into these chapters here in the Bible, it gets pretty gruesome.
[36:01] It gets very gruesome. And that's one of the reasons I left a lot of this stuff out. It was because it just didn't fit with what I wanted to bring forth. John? When Shirley and I were in Israel in 1993, anyway, the tour guy took us to Mount Yomola, and he said this is where they put Saul and John's head on the side of this town.
[36:28] Yeah. Wow. After they killed him. Yeah. the Bible has some pretty gruesome stories. And if you've got a king and he's killed in battle, they're going to take him and they're going to make a trophy of him because they're hanging his head and everything else.
[36:50] John? Yeah.
[37:14] Some crazy stuff was going on there. Roger? Yeah. It sobers me to think about Saul's descent as he began in a good way.
[37:27] Yeah. And he began very humbly and recognizing that what God was anointing him to was a magnificent or a huge task.
[37:41] But he very quickly went to pride and then he he starts with making a sacrifice that he should not have made because it wasn't his position to make that.
[37:57] Right. And he winds up continuing in that light and instead of turning back to God, he winds up going to a medium.
[38:11] Yeah. Yeah. And just the complete descent and all those times he could have turned, but he wouldn't.
[38:23] And I think that's sobering to me just in my walk to be careful. Yeah. I didn't, I think it was in chapter 27 or 28 where Saul went to a medium and the medium brought up Samuel and he was guaranteed, Samuel, this is not going to end well for you at all.
[38:51] Your kingship is over and David will take over that kingship. Anything else? Okay.
[39:04] The next couple weeks we're going to be talking about David being anointed. By the way, talking about anointed, it's all over the internet today. Who was anointed yesterday?
[39:16] King Charles. So they're still doing the anointing and it was done with oil. I don't know if it's the same type of oil, but they poured it over his head and over his face, just like they were anointed back in the Old Testament.
[39:38] But, I guess Queen Elizabeth, when she was anointed, she would not let anybody see this. And I guess he also said, no cameras while this anointing is going on.
[39:50] This is a religious type part of it and it's going to be private. So it's amazing that for kingships and that thing has just gone on for years and years and years and it's still going on.
[40:04] Listen to the other thing. Listen to the other thing.
